We really need college education funding reformed, because forgiving $10K now does nothing to address the cost for new students. But that takes Congress.
It is called going to a community college for 2 years and then transferring to a 4 year state school. Work your way through and pick up some scholarships or tuition assistance.
There are PLENTY of good, affordable, college education choices that don’t cost $40k a year.
My kids did everything you said, still ended up with $20k in loans. College is expensive. It just is, and no examples from how we all afforded college in the 70s and 80s can fix that.
It's an investment in yourself and your future. We're reforming the experience in many ways and we have to continue to.

Marjorie Taylor Green got a $182k government loan forgiven.
American farmers were handed $16 billion from donald trump in the wake of his disastrous China trade policy.
So you know what..I am AOK with forgiving $10 or 20K in student loans, most of which go to lower income families. This is putting money directly back into the economy. It's one of the rare times we invest in people who need it most, and in ways that will have broad impact.

Did we ever find out where Kavanaugh suddenly got the cash to pay off his mortgage?

If I heard correctly:
90% of people getting some love earn under $75K per year.
Terms for new student loans will include cap of 5% monthly earnings max payment. It is 10% now.
Apparently, a large percentage of people with student debt will be off the books, something like 50%. (Murky on this…)
Sounds good to me. (tu)
(Think I paid off my student loan debt in 1979…)

Huzzah. The Pell Grants part is a nice touch. They called it The Basic Grant when I got it before renaming it.
It had been renamed to Pell by the time I went to college and you are only a few years older than me... I wonder when the change occurred.

I had it rough so you kids will have to as well.
So much for making life better for the next generations.
This also makes me think of the few Repubs I know who feel similar about affordable medical care.
'I had to work for my medical coverage, so screw 'em if they can't afford any'.
I'm agin socialism!
