Shock 'n' Awe over Sout' Joisey
#11
One of the oddest comments I heard about the Catalina fire was from a line captain about how a lack of water was hampering their efforts to contain the blaze.

You can see the strings holding that helicopter up.

And they even had a natural bluescreen to do the matte effects on! Guess they blew their budget before they got to special effects.

Most land based fire fighters do not have equipment for pumping seawater, So the line captains would be short on water. The aerial crews can pick it up and drop over an area, but that does not give the ground workers water to cool down a hot spot at the line. Even if the ground workers had seawater pumps, that looks to be a lot of vertical terrain involved.

The comments on that blog ARE hilarious.

And I grew up in South Jersey, also, and "Sout' Joisey" is just so wrong. I get awfully tired of people saying "Oh, you're from Joisey" -- don't encourage them!

What exit?

Are you coming from the North or from the South?

Seriously, I am no longer even sure what exit. We left there when I was still in High School, the exits have probably all been changed since then.

Hey, I did not live in NJ, but even I can tell that the NJ Turnpike exit numbers have not changed in years from travelling on it. The one closest to the Delaware bridge is still exit 1, and they count up from there going north. Added ones in between older ones have managed to get "A's" and the like.

I never travel in New Jersey. I think Exit 3 or 4, okay, but it's been decades.
