YOu might request a box with Firewire-they are required to provide a box with Firewire cable if you ask, and theses are usually newer boxes that support HD.
I decided to get a DVR from Comcast-and didn't order HD-but it does push HD to my TV--and it is wonderful.
You probably pay about $5/month for a digital box--and for another $5/month you should be able to get a dual tuner DVR that does HD.
