I guess if you don't agree 100% with someone here you block them, is that right? As if no person has a point to listen to? Ah, that sounds really rational. Just block messages from everyone you don't agree with...the American way?

If they're crazy and have some weirdo ax to grind, yes, you block them.

You may not like what Rush Limbaugh has to say , but AM radio was dead until he came along. If the unfairness doctrine is re-instituted, AM radio will once again die.

Maybe for you it was dead. Gosh, all those talk show hosts just rolled in their graves. There have been a ton of non-partisan speakers on AM.

AM is dead, Rush will move to the world of Howard Stern very soon.

Wow, a public call to start blocking people?

If you don't want to listen to Rush Limbaugh, you either turn the radio off of you dial in a new station.

Same here, if you don't want to read Stealth's post, hit the Ignore button or just skip over it. You are not required to read his stuff nor reply to it.

Making a public call for everyone else to follow your lead is quite arrogant. I think individuals can make up their own mind without needing a "leader".

How true. The unfairness doctrine will kill radio and radio owners. Maybe AM radio will go to all music but AM radio as it now stands if the FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM. If you have listeners the merchant wins and so does the radio station. NO LISTENERS, the merchant doesn't advertise and radio station goes out of business.

Ted:

The reason that the Fairness Doctrine targets conservative talk show hosts more than liberal talk show hosts is that nobody listens to liberal talk radio. Radio station operators would have to host the liberal talk show hosts who get fewer listeners, and thus would have to charge less advertising money during those segment. It's much easier (and more profitable) for the station to just dump the conservative talk show host.

The argument that the airways are owned by the public is facetious. To believe that you have to believe that conservatives are not part of the public demographic and have no stake in owning the public airways.

Maybe in today's conspiracy theory world the IRS has a way to segregate my conservative tax contribution out such that my tax dollars are not used to support the FCC so that liberals can make the claim that they alone own the airways.
