You may be correct on that. Regardless, the exclusivity won't be up until at least June 2010.

So my google fu was not weak... it is such a mess right now...
I was hoping to be able to grab an iPhone on black friday sale but nogo...

I'm confused. You say you have a cingular sim. Well, cingular IS AT&T so you should be able to activate on your existing network. The only other GSM carrier in the US is T-Mobile and as said above only 1st gen phones will work with it. If you really want to go through this big hassle to use T-Mobile (which has a crappier network than AT&T, then get a 1st gen phone (which will cost you MORE than a 3G phone with AT&T activation.

Hi davester,
the thing is, I rather not pay an extra 20 on my att bill,since I am well covered with airports and whatnots.
Also, ideally I'd like to use a different sim while in other countries.
anyway...
