Brown snake is correct. They are related to garters (as are water snakes). I have always wanted to see one in person. This is the time of year they come inside looking for a warm place to winter. We get lots of calls in the fall to remove snakes from kitchens, garages, etc. When rescuers find snakes this late in the year, they will normally keep them for the winter because it's too late to safely release them. If you can't keep him for the winter, please PM me and I will try to find someone in your area to help out. If you do decide to keep him for the winter, pm me anyway for specifics on keeping him comfortable. (edited to correct typos - on iPhone)

Cute snake by the way Smile

PS. I think the snake is female based on the dramatic tapering of the tail. Just an FYI in case you want to name her. Smile

We're all set, an employee will set up a terrarium tonight for it, she's delighted to have a new pet for the winter - thanks!

I see it's also called DeKay's Snake (Brown Snake)

A couple of links I found now is:

Thanks everybody!

Actually the employee had already come up with "Herbert". Since Stephanie says it's a girl, it'll be Henrietta..... :>)
