My goals are overall health and enjoyment. I have cut down my mileage quite drastically from two years ago due to tendinitis on my left heel. I must admit I have been neglecting the weight resistance workout side of the program (Jack, your invitation sounds good ... LOL!) I don't care much for the few crowded gyms in town less I come in between 1 A.M. and 5 A.M. Smilin' Jack, I think I will just apply your 'routine' with a few modifications. Thanks for the link. Unlike Jim Fixx, the result of the blood test for my cholesterol came back great and my ticker is fine. However, I have to watch out for my border line blood pressure. It runs in the family.

It seems like you would gave diminishing returns after just a few miles and skyrocketing chances of injury.

mattkime wrote: Exactly my thought! I used to do 4-5 miles per day. At least 6 miles or longer on the weekend, and holidays (it's my annual routine). Due to injuries and aging I have cut down my mileage. Now I do 2.5 miles for 4 days per week. Trying to work up to 3-4 miles on the weekend, but the lingering tendinitis on my left heel is a reminder to slow down ![]() |
