I am pretty steadfast against starting a "museum" of old computers and parts. I tend towards a more minimalist aesthetic in general. My girlfriend wouldn't put up with all that old junk for ten minutes, anyway.
I could be convinced to keep a collection of laptops: at least they don't take up much room. Speaking of laptops, one of my new clients has a vintage Powerbook 140 sitting in the server room. I held up my 12" Powerbook G4 next to it, and the entire PBG4 was just about as thick as the bottom half of the Powerbook 140 case alone. That's progress!

I've never been able to understand how people can hold onto such junk. Even if ALL of that equipment worked, of what use is it?
I have an iMac G5 and an iBook. That enough for me. I may not be state-of-the-art, but at least I don't have a graveyard in my basement. |
