I don't like family portraits as holiday cards.

For years I've been tempted to write a family letter that goes something like this:

Well, we're happy to announce that our daughter iS NOT pregnant. It was a false alarm from all the meth. Our son just got out of jail, so we're celebrating. He'll be on probation for a few years, so those of y'all with those guns and things, just stay away or he'll be back in the pokey again.

Holiday Card 2009

Mrs. Buzz stocks up on cards during the off-season, then we [eventually] print 'em ourselves for future holidays.

Me neither.

I send out 100+ cards, and I write something in each one, mostly generic happy crappy but quite a few get a personal message.

It is tempting to make one of those glossy photo cards, maybe even have an assistant slap labels and stamps on envelopes. It would save me hours of work. I'm sure I could even find some service where just I upload a photo and a list of addresses and give them my credit card number. But, uh, it's missing the point, no?
