If you were going to spend $6-8000 on a car, what would you get?

Question re: title status "rebuilt" in craigslist ads-- I see this a lot from private owners.... this means someone took a car that was in junk or salvage status at some point e.g. after being totaled by an insurance company and rebuilt it?

Lots and lots of trouble...forever. If the title says Salvage on it, require more info, and a carfax report... IMHO

Ford fusion with 4cyl
Between myself and my brother we have 5 that have been trouble free. They are cheap to fix if needed and get decent mileage for the size. The also are rated very well for crash tests. The 2010-2012 with the 2.5 4cyl get 35mpg on the hwy in summer. Winter mixed driving about 28-30mpg My youngest daughter is driving a 2010 with 172,000 miles. It has been a great car the last 2 years. I bought it with 127K on it. |
