Facebook The internet is okay as long as you don't post anything you don't want the world to know about.
We use Facebook with our family and friends pretty extensively. I just set up a running group of about a dozen people, and we use it as a place to post our runs, set up meeting places, discuss races, etc. Of course, FB was just one of many options, but it was the easiest for us.
I just scanned in about 50 old photos from our family and posted them. It has been fun to watch family members react to the pictures and insert comments about the dates of the pictures and identity of some long-lost relatives. Again, FB was just the easiest tool for this - among many possibilities.
This morning, I noticed that a friend of ours in England had her baby. I sent the notice to my wife who is excited about reaching out to congratulate them and send them a gift.
etc.
So, for us, it works well. I have privacy set high - no one can find me by searching my name. Only Friends of Friends can see anything I post, and I've debated making this just Friends.
As many have said, FB is just a tool. How you use (and abuse) it is up to you.
