Dem caucus is discussing impeachment vote right now. Articles are already drafted. Pelosi has talked to joint chiefs about blocking trump from initiating any military action, according to associated press
This is one woman in one powerful office, but apparently we expect her to do everything. Pence won't do a damn thing.
Thank you

A credible rumor that Trump was about to pardon the rioters would lead to his impeachment.
I would imagine that Pelosi and allies would like to find 20 Republican senators who pledge to vote to remove Trump from office and bar him from further public office, so that this impeachment does not mirror the last one.
And yes, there are lots of lawyers on the House staff who could have the articles of impeachment ready on ten minutes notice. (It takes longer because some of them use Windows.)

Still wondering why any Republican Senator would want to leave open the possibility of Trump holding office again. My suspicion is that because they know retirement is the practical outcome of any president's future, barring him from further office isn't a genuine worry.
Then again, this is the same crowd that never seems to take any of this intentions seriously.

Monday. They appear to be using the articles written by David Cicilline, Ted Lieu and Jamie Raskin and not by the women. But it's a go.

I'm sure there is a partisan advantage angle (force a vote that many Republicans don't want to make) as part of her motivation, but I think she is genuinely - and rightly so to my way of thinking - worried that Trump will do something extremely dangerous for the country before he leaves office. She's making him face the possibility of being impeached, convicted and removed quickly if he were to go so far off the rails that enough Republican Senators abandon him. It would probably have to be pretty extreme and still leaves Trump able to do a lot of shenanigans that Republicans can ignore, but I think it's better to have that hanging over his head as a last check because the history of his behavior indicates that he is too capable of doing something really bad.

She said she would impeach and she has not. What more do you need? Why did she say it?
Looks like the process is
starting Monday; apparently she's calling the House back in session. She can't impeach Trump all by herself. Zat soon enough for ya?
Word is is that there are currently 230 House votes (ie more than enough, and more than just Democrats) for impeachment.

A new “advantage” Democrats appear to have is that Pelosi can rightly claim she’s worried about safety and his unhingeness (new made up word) ... makes it harder for Repubs to refute (although they will, so it’s just probably more of the same circus)

I wondered if she had the votes. It's Pelosi, though, so she probably knows the numbers better than anyone.

You know, Nancy Pelosi is smart and she doesn't take no shit.
She may simply be forcing the Republicans to choose sides; do you stand with the turd, or with Democracy?
But she might also just be looking at Trump and saying he hasn't gotten the message yet; he needs to be on a short leash these next 12 days.
I'm not sure I can disagree with that.
