If anyone is defending this dirtbag for what he did, they are as much of a piece of sh!t as he is. I hope that this person does NOT get the death penalty, and lives a long, long life in jail.

How easy it is to buy assault weapons in Arizona
From April 2010 : "PHOENIX — Favoring the constitutional right to bear arms over others' concerns about gun safety, Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill making Arizona the third state allowing people to carry a concealed weapon without requiring a permit. The measure takes effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends, which likely puts the effective date in July or August. "I believe this legislation not only protects the Second Amendment rights of Arizona citizens, but restores those rights as well," Brewer, a Republican, said in a statement.... By eliminating the permit requirement, the Arizona legislation will allow people 21 or older to forego background checks and classes that are now required." This new law, which went into effect in July in Arizona, made it perfectly legal for this young man to enter Safeway concealing a firearm for which no permit of any kind was required, at any point along the way.

The police have identified and disclosed the weapon type(s) and brand already ?

So the guy would have woken up this morning and said to himself, hmm, Governor Brewer has not signed the law yet. May be I should wait a few days before I shoot the congresswoman. And why did all you guys dump on seeing...whatever guy for bringing politics into this? The poor guy was on your side.

Sadly, it is easy in my state as well. There are "traveling gun shows" that have shown to be a market for people buying guns that they should not be able to. If you walked into a gun shop and asked to buy a gun, you would have to wait a certain amount of time, as mandated by law. At these shows, people have walked in with cash, bought guns, and left the same day with them.
I have no problem with responsible people buying guns; if you are bent on getting a gun, why not have to pass a gun safety class? Do we not need a permit to drive? Dak, you are one of the minority that are bringing politics into this. Most here are posting what happened. Another thing, who gives a crap what politics this guy believed? We have friends in Tuscon and they could have easily been a victim in this tragedy. You are either trying to start a fight or really are dumb.

And you don't need a permit in Arizona to purchase ANY weapon. All this means is that his possession of the gun was not illegal. It doesn't imply anything about what he thought, or didn't think. billb, the weapon used in this crime was a semi-automatic pistol. |
