Jerry Falwell - R.I.P.
#41
In the next few days and weeks you are going see a tremendous amount of support and ,love for him. All of this should convince you haters you are in a tiny minority. Of course gays and prochoice types will picket but will be insignificant. Your hatred is not going to sweep the nation. Maybe the coffee shops in Big Cities. There will be celebrations in neighborhoods like Castro Street but again in insignificant numbers. Don't get too smug.

'Mint, anyone who doesn't agree with you is exiled to a "tiny minority".

However, this minority exists only in your mind.

YAY!!! THANK YOU GOD!!!
He was an absolutely horrible person:
1. The leader of the Anti-gay movement to deny them rights, and promote discrimination against them.
2. Blamed 9/11 on American citizens for their lack of morality in the eyes of God

...among other horrible actions against people.

I love the intellectual level of this debate. Calling me a dope? Way cool.

funny how many equate righteous anger and glee over somebody's death with standing up to evil and wrong. They are completely separate. One can fully exist without the other. I *always* speak out against the kind of BS that Falwell and his like push on people...ALWAYS. i stand up for in my words and my actions each day. However, I choose not to hold the anger people like him bring up in me for very long. As mentioned by kj, that crap spills over to all other areas of your life. Heck, it might even cause cancer.

and chas, the idea that it's ok to be gleeful because it makes one happy is seriously misguided. It is that self-centeredness that many would say is the core of the problems in the world. If people would spend more time thinking of others and less time just making themselves happy, the world would change dramatically. Like mentioned before - why not just murder the guy and Robertson while you're at it? heck, go after Bushco.

Here's a guy who wrote a book about being other-centered and is trying to change things in Sri Lanka:

I'm not saying to not do things you enjoy and love. However, when the decision is between what you enjoy and doing something you don't like, but is for the greater good, I hope we can more frequently choose the latter.

I have to agree. There's nothing rational going on in this thread. It's all emotional. kj.

Some people brighten a room by entering - others by leaving
(that's a misquote from someone but seems somehow appropos)
