As I mentioned in the initial post, I have the quote from HD and all it included was R30 pink fiberglass insulation and the baffles for the high hats and soffit vents (which don't exist, (BTW - I don't know how the air is supposed to flow through the attic unless it's from a single location on the front door overhang where the two screens are nearly completely plugged from the HOA hired painters sloppy work - I guess I should take them down and clean them). Same brand of material, same R30 value.
You should have soffit vents.
That said, I don't have any with this 100 years old house either and even the little round ones should be fairly easy to add ( I want to remove the soffits from outside the insulation thatwas crammed in there in the fifties, add baffles and put the strip vents in)
Soffit vents also supposedy help add some longevity to roofing in the Summer.
I have huge vents in the gable ends so I have a fair air flow.
You also want no insulation in the soffits to help eliminate a cause of water dams.
The baffles will help stop the insulation from vibration and wind settling into the soffits.
