Going to Disney Tomorrow!!
#1
Flying to Walt Disney World tomorrow for a week. Yes, it's going to be hot! We are staying at Old Key West Resort and are looking forward to a fun week with the mouse.

Any tips you would like to offer? Send them my way. My wife and I will be taking our 7 yr old son and our 4 yr old daughter.

May you all have a "magical" day!

We've been with small children, and you just have to relax and enjoy as much as you can - keep your expectations within limits.

When we were there, we found out about the kid-pass thing. In other words, if you get to the front of a line for a ride on which your 7 YO wants to ride but your 4YO does not, you can have one of you ride with your son while the other parent waits with your daughter on the other side of the ride. Then when your 7YO comes back, the other parent can ride with him, while the other waits with your daughter. We had an infant with us last time, and we did this a lot with our older kid. It allowed our son to ride a lot of rides twice, and it allowed us all to stay together.

Have a lot of fun.

Try to be there before the park opens, get through the gates fast and head to the popular stuff first. Save the sit down, indoor stuff and shows until the afternoon to stay cool (or go back to the hotel pool).

Bring water and refill at the fountains.

Snacks will save you money.

The Turkey Legs are great and can feed two. Disney has their own Turkey farms and the birds have been bred for larger than usual legs.

Do NOT climb around the fence wall on Tom Sawyers Island to get to the burning log cabin. If you do, do NOT lean out the windows and yell "Help, InJuns!" to the passing river boat ride. It is truly amazing how fast security can show up and how little sense of humor they have with 13-year-olds.

At Disney Hollywood Studios, all of the daily FastPasses for "Toy Story Mania" will be distributed by lunch. At Epcot, all of the Soarin' FastPasses will be gone shortly after lunch. Fantasmic only runs certain days at Hollywood Studios, so if you want to see it, check the schedule for the week early so that you're there one of those days.

Was down there a little over a month ago and it rained everyday in the
afternoon and very hot. We'll never go back in Aug. again.

Have Fun!

Good advice on the water refills.

Also: make sure you have (or rent) a stroller for the 4-year-old, who, if you're doing this right, will be pooped by the early afternoon.

water - what we did was take a fanny/waist-pack that holds two bottles. The night before, filled them with water and put them in freezer.
Then, they melt throughout the day and you have cold water. Usually lasted us all day with some ice in them.

I think that is covered in all the popular guidebooks. Smile

Ditto on the Toy Story Mania Ride. Be familiar with the park layout so that you go there FIRST when Hollywood Studio opens.

You can also check out the DIS boards for lots of great tips:

Mousesavers.com has great resources on saving money at Disney:

Have fun!! If you're going for a week, take one or two days to unwind and go at a slower pace.

Bink.
