Hard Caulk Pics!
#1
You guys asked for pictures last night.

I managed to make some progress tonight. I bought a better pair of protection goggles (this stuff is flying like pieces of glass all over the place) and in about 45 minutes I cleaned up the entire length of the tub, now I need to do the ends and after that I shall caulk. I don't have time to finish tonight since the kids are sleeping and I am not allowed to hammer.

but here is the picture. This stuff is almost like china, hard and brittle. sometimes there is a section of maybe 1/2" that is a little softer, but most sections are hard.

sorry about the white balance, I set the camera to Tungsten but I guess it still didn't come out right.

So what's the white stuff in your hard caulk pics?

Looks like someone had a "brighter idea" and installed something instead of caulk.

I bet that's grout with less than the recommended amount of sand in it--not caulk.

If there are soft areas, then I am betting on old style caulking that hardened over the years. Not vinyl, acrylic latex or silicone caulk.

they're not really soft ares. maybe not as hard as the rest of the damn thing.

But isn't that precisely the time TO hammer?

It looks to me like the caulk was applied by a male in his mid-forties, left-handed, probably with a mild heart condition, and definitely being divorced by his wife.

Pretty obvious there's a history of drug abuse starting in his senior- no- junior year of high school. He also committed suicide on his fiftieth birthday.

I can't tell any more without better white balance.

Whatever it is, it's poorly done

Continue blasting it out and take no prisoners !
