Weiss fired according to some news outlets after a dismal season where he gave South Bend a new meaning.

The firing is official this afternoon. I received an e-mail from Notre Dame a few minutes ago confirming what the fans had expected for a few weeks now.
Our Archbishop asked for a second collection at Mass last Sunday to buy out Charlie's contract.:biggrin: From what I've read on the ND message boards, Bob Stoops & Brian Kelly are in the running, but who knows what the ND Athletic Director is thinking.

As an ND grad, I can't say I am heartbroken about the decision. Been a rough spell with the team. Hopefully a new coach will inject whatever has been missing.

I always thought that I wouldn't feel very inspired to play for a big lard butt. There are a few coaches out there in college and pro that are quite large. I just feel that they talk the talk but then they waddle the waddle.

So Notre Dame had to peel off a sliver from their 6.2 billion dollar endowment. Now they'll hire another lab rat.

What's really sad is that he had surgery to get rid of a lot of that weight just a few years ago. I was shocked when I saw him on TV last weekend looking as big as ever.

I was shopping at Sears one day and came face to face with Lou Holtz and his wife.
Why he was shopping in Sears hardware department I have no idea. |
