I've been tasked with selling one for someone who's out of the country and need to get up to speed quickly on one or two issues as I prep it for sale.
In particular, one part of one side mirror is broken (lens cover for the built-in turn signal lights, rest of mirror cover is fine) Don't wanna have to get a whole new side mirror if I can avoid it.

I know they are great little cars, but I'll bet the insurance for the rarer tC has got to be a head turner
compared to the bigger sellers (which... who wants to own that common crap anyway?!?).
Did you find that to be true?

I wouldn't know. I don't have insurance on it, the owner presumably does?

Lots of parts on eBay and a thriving 3rd party reseller market. Scions are as modular as a mainstream car can get. They're practically Legos.
Go into a Toyota/Scion dealer, find out whether the part is available separately or whether the whole mirror must be replaced and get the exact name of the part, the part number and the dealer-price.
Then do a Google or eBay search for the part. You'll probably find it about 10% cheaper than the dealer price.
