... if as a result of this, we end up NOT passing health care reform, we'll still what we have now, which clearly isn't working. Is this really what the Republicans want? More of the same, leading to collapse of the system under its own weight, and eventual bankruptcy? Has anyone actually LOOKED at their medical bill recently?
My own sister-in-law made a comment in her blog that she is loving the results of this election. ??? WTF
Don't get me wrong-- Coakley was an awful candidate, who ran a horrible campaign, and the Dems are to blame for the loss; but I have yet to see a viable alternative health care plan proposed by the Republicans. At least the Dems have a plan or two floating about, the Republicans just seem to want to block, obstruct, say "ha, ha" to Obama. All at our expense.
Shame, Massachusetts voters -- you knew there was a right choice and a wrong choice, and you made the wrong one.

Hey! My town voted 65% for Coakley, we can't help it that there were crazy ones elsewhere. But I do have to admit she ran an atrocious campaign.
As for medical bills, so far I have seen totals of over $15K so far this year, and I have months more of treatments and bills to see. Some stuff still has yet to be billed for services provided.
P.S. to Gutenberg, check the map for where Coakley did well in MA, it was not in the eastern part as you suggested would be the case.

Ya know. I have to say that to say that the voters in MA are 'stupid' or 'crazy'... well, those selfsame voters kept Teddy in the Senate for almost 50 years. It wasn't a Democratic seat, it was Teddy's seat.
I think the only reasonable conclusion that you can make is that:
1- Coakley ran a lackluster campaign. Brown did the community organizer / cheerleader thing.
2- Brown got serious support from the Republican party, presumptively in the form of funding. Coakley did NOT get that kind of support from the Democratic party until it was too late.
This election was NOT a vote on Healthcare. MA already has 'required healthcare insurance' by state law.

This is an important point that many keep missing.

Yeah, I kept thinking, what do they care about health care reform, they already have it in their state. I still think we need something on a national level and not 50 different varieties, but it is no wonder this was not the big vote decider in MA.

It could be if they felt the bill in Washington would upset their applecart and give them less while costing more.

51% of registered voters in Ma. are neither Democrats nor Republicans.
Many unemployed .
Do they want Representatives working on ways to spend more money or ways to get the economy back on track ?

You must know more that the candidate who won. He ran on 3 issues; terror, taxes and stopping Obama's healthcare. He said send me down there and I will stop this monstrosity in its tracks. Wait more the 24 hours to rewrite history.

Yes Massachusetts voters should be lock step with the demands of out of staters.
Look at when the polls surged and when the out of state funded negative campaigning started.
There's an interesting parallel there.
This entitled arrogance is exactly what got people out to the polls.

The underwear bomber had something to do with the results.
The economy had something to do with the results.
The president's decreasing popularity overall had something to do with the results.
The "terrorist trials" had something to do with the results.
The bad candidate for the Dems had something to do with the results.
The fact that the candidate was a woman running against a man had something to do with the results.
The military thing had something to do with the results.
The sense of entitlement among some in the state Democratic Party had something to do with the results.
In other words... everything had to do with the results.
edit: where's RgrF for the post-mortem?
