Why SD card won't mount?
#1
Two issues here. iPhoto does not recognize my Kodak EasyShare so no import possible. I took out the SD card(16 MB), put in a USB reader and plugged it in. That didn't show up on the desktop either.

1-try another USB port
2-try another SD/USB reader (if you had one, I assume you would have tried it already)
3-ZAP PRAM

Standard SD cards max out at 2GB or 4GB so it must be an SDHC card if it's 16GB. (16 MB would fill up pretty quickly. Smile )

Regular SD card readers don't work with SDHC cards.

Is your card reader certified to work with SDHC cards?

What Doc said. Just went through it with my Dell 2407WFP monitors internal reader at work when trying to use an SDHC card.

Thanks Doc. It must be it. Yes, it is a 16gig card and no, the reader is nothing special. Are other cameras that iPhoto has issues with? In my case it is hit or miss. Sometime it sees the camera, sometimes not.

Edit: System Profiler sees the camera. There must be a way to get to it.

Does Image Capture see the camera?

Matter of fact it did. Soon after the camera also appeared in the iPhoto sidebar. I had to manually copy pictures to the main library. It all seem so erratic because I tried image capture at work on the iMac but it didn't see it.

When using Image Capture, set up a new folder or two on the Desktop, with appropriate titles. You can then import one, several, or all to those folders. iPhoto will then import from them without manual efforts.

Read this link that states that Bluetooth may be a part of why the Mac is slow to recognize cameras and photo cards. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-200...l?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=MacFixIt
