Anyway to update iPhone, but not all the way to 4.1?, say to 4.01?
#1
Wifes iPhone is still at 3.1 or something. My iPhone just got replaced, by Apple, and it is at 4.01.

I want to upgrade the wifes phone to 4.01 as well, can it be done?

I have never Jailbroke an iPhone, but would like to keep the possibility available.

Thanks..

If it is a 3G, yes. If its a 3GS, no. Apple needs to bless each update and they stopped blessing 4.0.1 a while ago. There is a jailbreak available for 4.1 but is is tethered.

There is an app called tinyumbrella that allows you to store versions of your iPhone so you can backup to prior OS versions without going 'all the way' to the latest and greatest.

I've never set this up, but I'm getting ready to jailbreak - probably once the non-tethered 4.1 JB is released.

In the meantime, I'm sticking at 4.00 - 4.01 only adds the silly change to the signal strength icon, does not address any real issues. When I want to know if my phone works, I just make a call or surf.

what flavor of iPhone does your wife have?

if 3G, then either leave it at 3.13 or upgrade to 4.1 and skip 4.01- you will hate 4.01 on a 3G.
if 3GS, then leave it at 3.13, my wife's 3GS sucks down the battery more on any flavor or OS 4.
I have to downgrade her to 3.13.
