Is there a way to repair a small scratch on my otherwise perfect Powerbook case?

I'm giving this perfectly working Powerbook to my grandkids and the only flaw on it is a small scratch on the cover. I'd really like to do something, if I can, to erase or cover up this minor, but noticeable mar.

Any suggestions?

Frankly, even if you succeed in buffing the scratch out, you'll likely have to refinish the whole side of cover the same way for it to "blend"... maybe consider one of those graphics appliques to hide the scratch, and not have mess w/ refinishing.

Actually, I was thinking about those paint kits for automobiles that claim to completely cover up road chips and blend perfectly. I've been wondering about buying one of the kits to use on our 2000 Toyota Camry.

Im almost sure that I ran across something that's supposed to do what I need, but I can't remember what or where I saw it.

Perhaps something for plastic models. A hobby supply type thing?

Don't worry about it or use toothpaste as a mild rubbing compound to rub it out?

Stickers or a skin are good too!

There's no such thing.

The commercials lie.

You're scraping off the clear-coat when you use the buffing creams, you're leaving an ugly smear of paint when you use touch-up paint.

If you have talented hands, the clearcoat pens work alright on very shallow scratches, but won't do a thing for a chip.

If you try buffing an aluminum case you'll create a texture on that spot that's different from the rest. If you try to buff the whole lid to give it an even texture, odds are that you'll screw it up.

Best not to mess with it unless you're gonna do something like this:

Looking over the powerbook decals on etsy.com, there weren't any that I felt would both be right for my nine year old granddaughter and at the same time, cover the spot where the scratch is located.

Now, if I can find the right one, it would be perfect. Are there other websites where I might look?
