Something to use for a time machine drive.

I've seen Hitachi drives as low as $65. I wouldn't buy one, but I'm sure many people would swear by them.

I got a couple of these that I like pretty good. Not sure if it qualifies as a "deal" but they are good drives.

Well if you're not totally stuck on 2TB drives, Frys has 3TB USB 2.0 external drives in a case for $129. Seagate and WD

I'm planning on holding off until Black Friday. I'm guessing 3TB drives for $99 or less.

Bob,

Just checked Frys. No Segate 3TB USB drives for $129. I did see a 2TB GoFlex Desk for $129 and 3TB GoFlex Desk models for $159. But, after owning 2 qty 3TB GoFlex Desk externals, I wouldn't buy one. Pieces of garbage. I've had nothing but trouble with this series of drives since the day I put them into place at my office and home office.

Newegg has this one: Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 2TB 5900 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

$69.99 with promo code: EMCKAGK27 -- I think it's today only.

Two year warranty. I don't know anything about these drives. Newegg reviews say 4 stars.

Those are very good drives. The 5900RPM speed gives a noticeable speed boost over 5400RPM drives.

So far we have:

Hitachi: -1, +1
Samsung: +1
Seagate +1, -1
WD: +1, -1 (my WD Black failed in 2 months)

So as usual, when discussing drives = no one "wins".

All drives fail. Is just a matter of when, not if.
