I used to be a freak
#1
I can recall a time at extended family gatherings and being the Mac Freak. The guy that would go on and on about how much I loves the Mac platform. Now I have family from all walks of life using Macs. I used to be a freak, I kind of miss that.

Yeah, years ago I told one of my brothers that I had a Mac, and he looked at me with an expression of shock.

IS AN INTERVENTION NEEDED?

I remember being goaded by the IT head into joining a discussion group about the pluses and minus of business students using Macs instead of the dominant PC platform

I almost immediately got suck into a dispute by, dare I say, a passionate PC defender. after going back and forth a few rounds with this young man, I realized that I had gotten suckered into debating with a fanatic. I immediately "conceded" that he was right and withdrew from the discussion.

Now, if asked, I'll provide information, but I never try to persuade.

Can I retain/regain my freak status with this attitude?

Funny thing is that, today, the IT head now writes me to brag about the latest Apple toy he has acquired and inquires about whether I ever could have imagined that he would switch.

Sounds like it might be bad for personal relationships . . .

For many years, my friends, family and co-workers regarded me with everything from bemused tolerance to eye rolling when I told them I liked Macs.

That don't happen no more.
