New tsunami video - by far the most frightening I've seen
#21
You have to think that some people were not able to make it to higher ground because they were unable to (babies, old, handicapped) or were not willing to part with a person who was unable to, and as a result perished with them. Imagine all the circumstances you can find yourself in unable to do something. Giving birth, sedated for surgery, stuck in elevator, traffic, etc.

Did anyone watch Hereafter? The opening minutes are spellbinding and haunting. (All I will say)

I wonder how long it would take someone to prepare a "Lawnchair Larry" escape? I would gladly swap the risk of being in a lawnchair above it all, than being on the ground. Of course, it would be impractical to execute the plan.

Prayers for those caught up in this tragedy.

That video truly defines horrific for me.

I read about staff at a hospital that had only about ten minutes' warning to get all the patients to safety. The only place they could go was up on the roof above the 4th story. They were only able to get the 4th story people up there before the tsunami hit. I can't imagine what they must have felt.

Yes, prayers indeed.

Pretty damn low, I'm sure...

I've decided not to watch the video.. what I HAVE seen has been bad enough.
Same reason I won't watch Schindlers List... I know what happened, I don't need the level of detail.

That's one movie that I've seen ONCE, but won't see it again - and this is from a guy that LOVES to re-watch movies. The hard port of watching that movie is that it isn't all evil. There are strong forces for good, but they are just overwhelmed by the evil. It's hard to accept.

Color Purple was another - both Spielberg movies... hmmm...

The clip is enough for me... I'll pass.

It isn't that I don't want to know, it is just that I don't need it to be theatrical to get the message. It makes it too much like entertainment and I just don't want that.

At the end when the man in black goes down to pull something /someone out of the oncoming debris wall, my heart stopped for him. Looks like he died trying to rescue what he loved most. Horrific.

I saw that too, it made me cringe. I don't think I want to see that video again.

That was truly horrifying. People clearly did not realize, until it was too late, that they would be engulfed.

WARNING: Do not watch this video unless you are prepared to see people who are swept to their deaths. Not everyone in this footage makes it out alive. Sad

Thank you for the warning. This video is not for me!

Some people knew better: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/0...1370.shtml .

Interesting the this video - no sirens. One of the other video clearly had the siren blaring. I wonder what percentage of these small towns had a siren system?
