iSight

Anyone know what a good iSight is selling for? And, are they useful or useless anymore?

Thanks

Shortly after Apple discontinued them I sold mine for about 3x what I paid for it. These days, though, I dunno -- only FW400 connectivity, seems that it's days have past. Best bet is to do a "Sold Items" search on ebay and see what's what -- but think of it this way, anything you sell it for is more than you currently have for it, esp if it's just sitting in a drawer somewhere.

I would get the top Logitech camera instead, if I were in the market for one. You can get one, brand new, for $70 or less (after rebate) and the optics are much better.

I second the suggestion to sell it for whatever you can, as soon as possible. There are still people who want one but that group is shrinking.

I did look on ebay and they seemed to be going for around $40.

I guess I'll get a Logitech for my needs.

Thanks for the replies.

I sold mine on Craigslist last fall for $125. I really miss it because I thought it was just a cool piece.

Whoops; thought you meant you had one to sell when I typed my reply.

The Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 works great with the Mac. And it has a built-in microphone.

I never got why Apple suddenly stopped selling them. The demand is bigger now than ever.

And for what it's worth, I bought the first iteration of them when they first came. That thing is on 24/7 for the past 6+ years.

But I have heard that the new Logitech cameras have better optics than the iSight, so I'll look forward to upgrading when this finally bites the dust.
