Application ?
The super glues sold at hobby shops for model aircraft building are usually pretty upscale, with metal pins in the lids for seals. They even sell 'accelerator' or 'kicker', which is a solvent spray that speeds up setting on the gel-based super glues. Consumer class "Krazy Glue" is designed to last perhaps half a year after use.

I've been buying cyanoacrylate in the littlest tiniest containers I can find , use and toss remains. Last time I found 6 to a blister card.

I think they're all about the same as far as the glue goes. I had to buy one of those expensive rubber sided controlled applicator bottles once and I got one use from it.

I sometimes manage to get more than one use out of tube, but like the others here, I usually find that they clog up pretty quickly. cbelt's suggestion may be worth looking into too. I find superglue to be dangerous too, particulaly if the tip is clogged and you are trying to get that free.
epoxy that you mix can be very strong, it just sets slowly.

I have been pleased with Loctite Super Glue Control Gel. It comes in an opaque plastic bottle with a sealing lid and squeeze spots on the side of the bottle to get the stuff out. I have been using my bottle for more than a year and there is no problem getting it out.
It has a 5 star rating on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Super-Glue-Easy-Sq..._1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312214966&sr=8-1 ![]()

I buy it in small containers from a guitar suppliers, Stewart MacDonald or LMII (stewmac.com and lmii.com), and use transfer pipettes to apply, like these http://www.amazon.com/LabAid-Transfer-Pi...B002RGCEEK. I use about a dozen a year and am down to my last 500, so I could spare a few dozen to send you.

If you use the cheap little tubes of CA, you can make a bunch of good applicators for cheap. Do you have a hobby shop that sells supplies for building radio control airplanes?
They should have lengths of 3/16" nylon tubing (this is used to sheath control cables). Cut this into lengths of about 3". Heat the center of each length of tubing over a candle flame. When it softens and begins to sag, stretch it out to about 8" or so. Snip this into two, and you'll have very precise applicators (1mm or less) that fit over the tips of the CA tubes. You can buy these ready made but you can make a lot of these in a short time for a lot less money. As others have said, the quality of CA varies. These cheap tubes from the 99ยข store are ok for some purposes but depending on what you're doing it might pay to use the Loctite stuff. |
