Because there was no need to worry about his safety...
The diffence lies in the nature of the target. If Paul Tibbets had 'dropped the bomb' on the Mafia, he would have to worry.

SEALs are experts at working so supremely as a team, not as individuals, that it doesn't surprise me at all that the person who took the shot doesn't need or want individual recognition. There's nothing about this operation that was about personal glory or accolades; they did this for their country and their countrymen. Can't it be enough to thank them all for their service?
