First Apple: Apple //e

I got the //e from my parents while in high school and used it all the way through college (along with an Okidata dot matrix printer).

First Mac: Mac LC III (Pizzabox)

First Apple: ][+, two floppy drives, first connected to a TV and later to a green screen monitor, and an off-brand impact printer (back in the day we had Epson-envy for the MX-series dot matrix printers).

Parents bought a Mac Plus. Just think of all the things we used to be able to fit on an 800K floppy.

My first "owned" Mac was a Mac II (no letters after it, the original Mac II). Second one of them on campus, the first one was in the business school's auditorium. Color video was a tech-installed option, and the campus computer tech initially installed one of the chips upside down. I was living large with a 44MB Syquest external cartridge drive.

Quadra 840AV

After that I vowed never again go pay the premium for the fastest machine available at any given time. But I sure did love it!

Classic II, purchased at Goodwill for $15.

My first mac was a Performa 200, which was really a Classic II, in 1993. Bought it on clearance at Sears for $800 something, I think. Wrote my Master's thesis on it. Saved some bucks on printing, because I used the Stylewriter rather than have the University printshop typeset it for me. Just submitted the inkjet pages printed on acid-free paper, and they bound them. Still looks good 18 years later--the thesis, that is...the Performa 200 got recycled years ago; it died in storage and wasn't worth cracking open to troubleshoot.
