I used a 128K Mac in 1984 when I worked for a little startup in Cambridge, MA; I purchased a 512Ke and a Mac XL (remember those?) and later (1986) swapped the XL (+$1.5K) for a MacPlus. Set up my wife's appellate brief-writing business on the Plus--the Imagewriter was slow and loud and cranked out nearly camera-ready copy at a time when most legal work was still done on electric typewriters.
Later, acquired a 5200 Road Apple, then a revB Bondi iMac, a tangerine iBook (early clamshell), buncha SE/30's, eMac, iMac 7,1 (2008 C2D 2.4GHz), 2 Dull Hackintoshen (Mini9, 10v), and i5MBA. Still have the e,i,H,&5.
Yea, verily, I have drunk the KoolAde and it was good.

1st Mac = 128K and later it paid for a SE/30
1st Apple = Apple ][+ with the Z80 card for CP/M and later added an HDD.

Performa 636. Really deflates one's street cred, ya know?
This actually came up recently. After essentially being the lone wolf Mac user in my school for the better part of a decade, I recently met with the new Superintendent. After seeing my MacBookPro, the next question was "How long have you been a Mac user"?, followed by "What was your first Mac?"

Mine was a Mac Clone.
1996 PowerComputing Power Wave. It had a 2gb hard drive (woo hoo!)
I think I paid around $4500 for it.

First Mac we owned was a SE. One FDHD floppy drive and a 20 MB drive. Added a GCC BLP Elite laser printer a year later. Both went with the ex when we separated a couple years later. After another couple years I could afford to get a Performa 636CD for myself.
The first Mac I ever used was a Plus. Had occasional access to it, enough to see where it beat out the PC's that were also around. A couple years later the department I was in got a Mac II, so I had some access to that.

It's not your first Mac that counts, it's the continuum. Bought my first Mac 27 years ago (the 1984 original) and Macs have been a big part of my life ever since.

I was another diehard Atari 800 and Atari ST/MegaST user. I used the Spectre GCR+ with Mac 128K ROMs inside, connected to a 19 inch Viking Moniterm monitor running System 6.0.5 around 1990. My first real Mac was a Centris 660AV purchased in 1993.
