Watching Mr. Paul's proclamations pass through the media, I get the feeling that he and the TEA party are very close in their political philosophies.. well, reasonably, when you compare Paul's brand of conservative libertarianism to what I would call the TEA Party's 'neo-libertarian / confusion platform.
His apparent enthusiasm for killing every single governmental program and/or institution and replacing them with what appears to be a 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' approach is rather stunning.
Bootstrapping is all well and good if you're truly self-reliant, but the populace of this country needs to be weaned off the tax dollar teat in an organized fashion to avoid massive unrest and an 'American Spring'.

The front page of The Washington Post carried a story Tuesday on black liberals demanding all blacks stand with President Obama -- just because he's black. Krissah Thompson's story carried some noteworthy "get in line" quotes from the forget-the-black-unemployment-numbers crowd, but the closest thing to a moderate or conservative in the article is a man suggesting Obama is not God.
On the front page, Thompson quoted from radio host Tom Joyner on his BlackAmericaWeb.com blog. “Let’s not even deal with the facts right now. Let’s deal with just our blackness and pride — and loyalty. We have the chance to re-elect the first African-American president, and that’s what we ought to be doing. And I’m not afraid or ashamed to say that as black people, we should do it because he’s a black man.”

Why not? People voted for Bush because they'd rather have a beer at a bbq with him over Gore/Kerry.

Obama is far from the Liberal Savior, but if you are left-leaning, who else are you going to vote for? Just because Obama didn't get everything you expected, are you going to sit on your hands and throw the election to the other side? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.
And I was going to say something about Ron Paul, too, but meh, he's not going to get anywhere anyway.
