Memory for older camera; 2 questions
#1
1. I have an older digital camera for which I'd like to buy some additional memory. Manual says SDSC cards to 2GB max.
Would this older camera be able to recognize and write to the now standard 2GB microSD-in-SD-adapter combination?

2. Isn't "SD" an industry wide standard? Why would two 2GB SD cards from the same manufacturer and sold by the same merchant have different prices? What difference would it make what camera they were used in?

Looks like the same card, but not the same merchant-- look at the upper right part of the window.
I think it would be worth your while to see if you can make a larger card work in there, primarily because it might be newer and you might get a little better speed.

Fixed the first link. Now showing the same merchant.

The technical details (or specs) are the same for both. Specifically the "100% compatible with all devices designed to use Secure Digital cards as standard or extended data storage" part.

If there's a compatibility difference between the two, I sure don't see it.

The seller is probably just preying on the stupidity of buyers. I.e. jacking up the price for the more common camera.

I would think a 2GB micro SD card in an adapter would work, however anything bigger (4GB+) as 4GB is when they switched to the SDHC standard and older cameras are not compatible.

I call random sloppiness on the part of the vendor for the two different prices and no difference between the cards.

He fixed the first link at 7:21 PM. Not sure how, but you read the prior (wrong) top link at 10:33.

About the camera, tho, and what it can use-I have an old Canon A700 and I can't use the SD HC's (for example). I have two older 2GB SD's that don't even have a "Class" rating on them. I believe if they don't have an HC or XD designation on them they'll work for you.

The limit might be 2gb because that was the largest card shipping at the time of print. That or the camera file system can only hire 2gb cards.
