Anyone else who made their own pumpkin pies notice something different this year?

Libby's real pumpkin Santiam hybrid squash that looks off color cans used to say pumpkin pie filling not pumpkin.

It was plain pumpkin and I can't really tell about any taste difference. It's been a year since I last had a taste of Mavis' pumpkin pie. I also think that the pie's appearance influenced how it tasted to me. Sad

All I can tell you is that after many years of perfect pies, it seemed very strange to me that this happened. :dunno:

I guess it will remain a mystery.

Ours looked and tasted the same as far as I could remember. Did you use the small cans (1 per pie) or large can (1 for 2 pies)? The reason I ask is that the small cans are 15oz. whereas the large can is 29oz.

Small cans only. Mavis doesn't like to use the big cans…

…and she NEVER uses the pumpkin "filling."

Oh well… I'm having some of her amazing applesauce, right now, so I'm not missing the pumpkin pie.

Maybe things will get back to normal for the Christmas pies?

Mrs. DewGuy won't have anything to do with the pre-made filling either. Do you suppose that it could of been one of the spices being lighter in color effecting the overall color of the pie? I guess if it tasted good that's the most important thing. Enjoy the applesauce!
