Privacy

Anything posted on Facebook (and other Social Networking sites) is basically fair game for the world. No real privacy or control once a post is made. Even if you "delete" information, it will still be floating around somewhere online. You best defense is simply NOT to give up your personal information in the first place.

Everyday, new "data harvesting" techniques are created. What you think is safe today, won't be safe tomorrow.

so how does this differ from the rest of the internet?

Pinkoos, can you say more about why you deleted your account and how that decision has worked for you?
(no way this is going to be anything but another facebook ranting thread-- don't blame me!)

You must have missed this about a month ago:

http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1...sg-1254964

It has been fine. I don't miss anything other than people's birthdays. However, writing "happy birthday" on their wall seemed so much less personal than actually picking up the phone that I don't really miss the birthdays anyway.
Nope, caught that. Don't we want to have that discussion monthly?
:-)
Okay, cool. I wasn't sure if you were being facetious or not. I guess you were!

:-)

:-) Facetious-- not quite the right word. I'm genuinely disappointed I didn't get to watch another such thread unfold.
