FU: Bought some Cat 5e Indoor/Outdoor &* RG6 Quad Shield
#1
I am hoping that both of these cables can take being outside.

I need to cross from one location to another, and it looks like there is a joint where the driveway meets the garage floor. I was thinking of taking a concrete blade on a saw and enlarging the meeting of the two slabs of concrete and then allowing the two cables to fit in this groove. Then covering all with Caulk.

Would this be a was to get to the other side of the concrete?, Seems the easiest solution for me.

The RG6 quad for sure; if the other is labeled for outdoor use, then I guess it'll be OK too.

As for the rest, my first thought would be to pursue some kind of conduit whether or not you trim concrete. And is this going to be something you could easily repair or replace later if necessary? Be careful that opening up the concrete doesn't make a drainage problem, where water can get under it.

Using conduit is a good idea and perhaps sealing it with heat shrink at both ends at ground level.

Conduit is advisable.

Use conduit, just because a cable is rated for outdoor use does not mean it is rated for direct burial in the ground.

Conduit is a really really good idea...

If you just need to get under an average residential driveway, most of the home centers probably still sell a "water boring" kit that lets you put a pointed nozzle on the end of PVC conduit and then use your garden hose to supply water pressure to "blast" through the dirt under the driveway slab, thus letting you thread a run of conduit under the driveway.
