Best Buy customer survey details 42-inch Apple HDTV with iOS for $1499

Whether it's inside knowledge of a future product or purely speculation, electronics retailer Best Buy has made mention in a survey of a 42-inch high-definition Apple television set powered by iOS priced at $1,499.

The questionnaire notes that the Apple HDTV "finally reinvents what a TV can do," with a 1080p LED flat panel display, connectivity with iCloud, and the ability to use an iPhone or an iPad as a remote control. The "Customer Voice" survey from Best Buy was revealed by The Verge

The survey was reportedly administered by Confirmit, a Norwegian research firm that Best Buy uses as a client. The full details from the survey follow:

if any of it is true then somebody has violated the NDA.

Jobs will surely rise from the depths of Hades and destroy them.

For $1500 you could buy a TV and a mini... I don't get it.

:agree: ...but then I did not understand why the iPod took off either.

The price is sucky for a 42" TV but as described I think it qualifies as 'revolutionary' enough to be worthy of Jobs' legacy.

Yeah, the price is high, but seems typical Apple-Y.

Munster may be vindicated, finally!

LIke the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, a lot of people won't either. But that's OK.

There are a lot of people out there who won't want to put something together, they'll just want something out-of-the box plug-n-play.

I'd say a lot depends on what the set has to offer, given that none of us knows a damn thing about it.

But let me be the first to say (at least in this thread) - APPLE IS DOOMED!! COOK IS SCREWING UP APPLE RETAIL AND THE TV WILL BE ANOTHER PIPPEN!

And speaking of NDA violation, remember when (I think) the 350MHz G3 iMacs were announced at MWSF? a few days before, somebody leaked that a press release from ATi announced their chipset being used in the new iMacs, with all the specs listed.

Steve ordered all references to ATi stricken from their handouts and cards pulled from the other desktops. He couldn't do anything about the iMacs. I was at that show, and the ATi booth had a pall cast over it. They were showing off one of their high end cards in some Mac desktops, but *nobody* at that booth even smiled that I saw. It was a good while before an ATi card shipped with a Mac (except the iMacs).

The next year at MWSF, I asked the Dr. Bott guys if they had some literature on their new plug-in antennas for the unveiled AirPort routers. They said "Uh, no. We're waiting until after opening day to order." And that was because they were taking no chances.

It's amazing this day and age, that Apple can keep anything secret, any more.

But I like that they try.

If Apple pulls of this TV thing, though I'd like to see the cost a little lower... it might be enough for me to switch to the iOS ecosystem. I currently own none because it the pros haven't outweighed the cons. But if they finally get this stuff integrated like that - which is what I've always wanted and what I'm close to with my own setup - I'd switch.

For $1500, you can get a decent 50" Plasma, an ATV2, and an iPad to serve as the remote!
