cbelt3 wrote: yes it was fun. But with some major differences. Republicans seem to feel they have no good choices this year, and have to pick the candidate they despise the least. Democrats in '08 had two excellent choices, and had to choose which inspired us the most. Quite a difference.

Oh I forgot Chris Christie, he was an early and strong favorite too.
The story I've heard on why conservative favorite and IMO smartest of the contenders Mitch Daniels would not jump in is that he did not want his family and imperfect marriage subjected to the Gingrich treatment, and he wanted the GOP to take social conservative issues off the table and focus instead on fiscal conservative issues, which he believed were the winning issues for Republicans in 2012. Failing to get those assurances, he said no thanks. (When Daniels was at Princeton in the 70's he was arrested for drug possession and spent a few days in jail. Not exactly a Rick Santorum choir boy.) |
