Classic Mac (OS 9) Emulator for OS X?
#1
I'm taking a trip, and for reasons of chronic dilatoriness I'd like to run a classic Mac program (the antique MacMoney) on my 13" MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard). Is there a simple-to-install-and-run emulator that will run on my MBP? I know of SheepShaver,

http://sheepshaver.cebix.net/

but it requires finding a ROM file* and various other fiddling to get working, and I have no time for a project.

Not holding my breath, but with all the Intel OS X Macs out there, you'd think there'd be a pretty sizable market for folks whose old PowerPC machines have bit the dust and still want to run 'Classic' (OS 9 and earlier) software.

* Is it possible to copy the ROM off my blue G3 and use it on the MBP?

Pismo FOREVER!

You can probably find an old dual boot OS 9/OS X laptop for a song, or a not quite as old, real Classic compatible, laptop for a song and a milkshake. At the end of your project, you can probably offload said acquisition for you paid for it... think of it as a rental.

"He," thank you.

Actually, my daughter's original blueberry iBook is not far from here; it runs OS 9. But no, I do NOT want to tote two laptops on the train.

OK, so maybe the last of late, great G4 AlBooks... runs regular Leopard, and still Classicable, looks pretty much like a pre-unibody MBP. $200-$300, then sell it for what it cost afterward. No need to carry two laptop; unless you wanna look really cool, nerdy chíc.

So I installed sheepshaver and the rom mentioned above but it's os7.5 so that kind of blows.
