....Dear Customers,

Today we’re announcing our biggest addition yet, bringing nearly 3,000 more titles to Prime Instant Video. We’ve struck a deal with Discovery Networks to bring some of the highest quality, non-fiction, informative and entertaining content about the world to our Amazon Prime customers. Rolling out over the next few weeks are TV shows from Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, and Science=. Prime members, at no additional cost, can now stream more than 17,000 titles.

The new titles include hits such as Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, Man vs. Wild, Dirty Jobs, Gold Rush: Alaska, and Shark Week, TLC series like Say Yes to the Dress and Cake Boss, as well as content like How It’s Made from Science, and The Jeff Corwin Experience from Animal Planet.....

this is a PRIME example why you should get it.....??

I subscribed to Prime and so far have found nothing I'd care to watch in the free selections. Maybe this will help. but since I get Discovery channel and record things I care to watch, I doubt it. Unless something convinces me otherwise, I will not be renewing.

Prime's prime function for me is almost free 2 day shipping. I ordered 59 times in 2011 which was down from 66 orders in 2011. yep, definitely worth it in my house even if we never stream a nanosecond.

I am also a huge fan of amazon prime and use it even more frequently than you do. I'm on a first name basis with my ups delivery person.

I tried looking at the video selection but it is so limited that it just wasn't worth it to me. They don't have an app for the iPhone or iPad either so that further limits it's usefulness.

Hi everyone,

I use Amazon Prime for shipping as well as for VOD. To me, the VOD is an added bonus. I just wish I could access it with the AppleTV2 I have in my kitchen and the PS3 I have in my bedroom. I can only use it with a computer, iphone or with the streaming features built into my Sony TV.

One thing I can't understand is how any of you can say you can't find anything to watch via Amazon Prime Free VOD. While Amazon doesn't always offer the latest and greatest, I've always found several things to watch. Always. Sometimes it's something I've watched and enjoyed in the past, other times it's something I'd never even heard of until I saw it on the listing. Downton Abbey comes to mind. Never heard of it until my wife found out that it's available on Amazon Prime VOD. Great show!

Now that the Discovery shows are on it, I'll find all the more content to enjoy.

I use http://www.playon.tv/playon. I have it installed on a virtual machine (on my MacPro) in the basement. My PS3 is networked into that so it shows up there. It gives you access to dozens of channels including Amazon VOD. It's certainly not the best or prettiest implementation as it's all folder based but it gets you where you need to go. I've watched several VOD shows using this method. No idea if it would work on an ATV. Maybe a hacked version. They have a free trial so you can try it out. Of course you need a PC to run it. Or a VM like I use.
