Igniting microwave?
#1
There is a built-in microwave in our new apt unit. It does not matter what we cook, there is a spark of flame coming out of the dish/bowl/container. Is that normal? Our own personal microwave had never done that.

we had a microwave at the office that had a metal fan shaped diffuser/deflector in the top above a grid that the screw fell out that held it in place and was touching the grid
made for quite the loud lightning type spark

That could be the issue with ours. It sparks a flame and loud sizzling noise.

Call the Landlord immediately. Discuss risk of fire. Unless you're supposed to repair the appliances yourself.

Do Not Use The Evil Sparky Microwave.

It sounds like a fire hazard, and you need to bring it to your apt. manager's attention, in writing, yesterday.

UPDATE:

Maintenance man could not duplicate the problem. Problems always go away in the presence of a repairperson!!!

Not mine to replace. It came with the apt unit. Well, there are flames no more; though smoking from the heat is there still. This is one powerful microwave!
