MEXICO CITY, July 14 (Reuters) - While their parents may have scrimped and saved to raise small armies of children on a single paycheck, growing numbers of high-earning Mexican couples are putting the department store before the baby carriage.
Couples with dual incomes but no kids, or "Dinks," are on the rise in Mexico, nearly doubling since 2005. They are buoying a growing high-end goods market, splashing out on everything from expensive lingerie to home decor.
the article went on to say iPads are even in their purchases. Maybe apple will find new markets in Mexico now.
"Dinks" that is a new term to me.

Good! Global population growth needs to slow. There are too many people here already. Even better would be a net population decline. Only way to do that is to have less kids.

We came back a week ago from our annual two week visit to relatives in Mexico City. I can assure you that the youthfulness of the nation is very obvious. We always seemed to be the oldest anywhere we went. Whenever we went to our favorite supermarket, it was always crowded with young families. It doesn't hurt that it is a mostly Catholic country.

Not at all surprised. World over, affluence/economic prosperity brings on the phenomenon of smaller families. And as echoed here already, thank god, we need to reduce our global population.

I have yet to read anything truly serious that corroborates this statement. Wild-eyed environmentalist literature does not count (and I consider myself a conservationist (except for the multiple vehicles)). For individual countries and regions, yes, for the earth as a whole, not really.
