In many ways, what a MBA should be.

Today's sale at 1saleaday has an 11.6 inch HP netbook with 4G LTE. Dual core AMD processor, good ports (like HDMI out). Price is good, too (under $300 shipped) - but that's not my point here.

Instead, if you put an SSD in that machine, it'd have most of the real hardware features I'd really use in a MBA.

I understand the MBA and other ultrabooks are cooler-looking, etc. And I DO like my LTE iPad.

But if I had an opportunity to get an LTE MBA, I think I'd happily trade in the iPad.

What do you think? Are we ever going to see LTE (or easy to add LTE options) for an MBA?

You completely missed sekker's point. He meant it would be an interesting compare and contrast if you put an SSD in the HP. Primarily the addition of LTE, but HDMI without a dongle couldn't hurt either. Half the price (after an SSD upgrade) is also quite compelling. I would be curious to see a battery life and performance comparison.

Don't think that was a problem. Apple was testing MBP prototypes with a built-in 3G antennae.

My guess is Apple thinks the iPad is the superior mobile device. If you need the heavy hitting power of an actual Mac, you can always tether your iPad/iPhone to your Mac. You know, since we all own one or the other anyway. Wink

Which is a piece of junk.

Apple courts the low end with the iPad, not the MacBook Air.

Add an i5 or i7 processor. That detail doesn't matter.

I think a $1200 MBA with LTE would be a hit.
