RNC delegate and wife take offense at Disney World
#1
Pennsylvania delegate Mark Harris and his wife, Irene, visited the Epcot Center and were "offended"—their word—to find a Mexican working at the American exhibit. And they told him so.

The Harris blog: http://rockstargop.wordpress.com/2012/08...-at-epcot/

Look at some of the earlier entries on the blog. If these people got any dumber we would have to water them.

Comments from people who don't share the Harris's point of view are pretty funny though:

"Note to the batshit insane little conservatives that were so offended, When you visit Epcot, you are not visiting a foreign country any more than you are when you go to the International House of Pancakes. I am sure, you were not asked for a passport when you entered Epcot. It is an amusement park. Everyone who works at that park is a citizen or legal resident of the United States. Please don't travel out of the country. I don't think you could handle the stress of people talking in a language other than English."

graylocks, you are right. Comparing those idiots to plants was insulting to plants and I apologize.

They had just spent four days in a cocoon of racism and intolerance and forgot that they were no longer in the Free Hate Speech Zone.

Not quite right - from what I recall, the World Showcase areas have workers from their respective countries working there; I thought that was one of the neater things about the place - it gave you an opportunity to talk with and interact with natives of the actual countries represented.

oh - as for the RNC delegates who were so offended - yes, :agree: that they are "batshit insane". They even noted on their blog that they were aware of what I outlined above, but were "highly offended after visiting the other countries and seeing employees from that country and then come to America and find a Mexican."

WTF?!!?? My first thought would have been that the "American" area was shorthanded and pulled someone from elsewhere to help out. What a bunch of dumbasses...
Disclaimer - I, too, remember being highly offended when last visiting the "American" area of EPCOT - mostly by dumbass American tourists who felt compelled to physically join in with the fife & drum corps when they were putting on their show - kinda ruined the photographic experience...

Understandable mistake, $tevie.

They carry the Free Hate Speech Zone with them wherever they go.

.
There is nobody working at Disney who is not a "legal resident." They may be working only for the summer, but they are doing so legally. The opposite of that is "illegal resident" in which case they are not employed by Disney.
