She never got used to it. We switched to Moneydance in Jan 2012 on our then new Mac Mini, now with ML 10.8.
Is there any Quicken version that actually works?
Or......... do I get an old Mac or a peecee?

Yes, you can get a version of Quicken that runs under Lion, maybe Mountain Lion, but not certain. About a year or so ago, Quicken 2007 for Mac was available for $15.00. I got it - again!
I own:
1. Liquid Ledger
2. Money Dance
3. AccountEdge (MYOB)
And have tried all the others I could find - I kind of hate to say it - but, Quicken is still the best for me.

If you have quicken 2007, there is an update to run it under ML.

Moneydance is clunky.
I used it in parallel for awhile with Quicken and stuck with Quicken.
