2000 election redux but GOP loses...

Exactly. What Acer said fits with what I said. "Look at all the red on that map." Also, I bet a very small percentage of all voters know what the number "270" means. Or, rather, if asked how many Electoral College votes it takes, couldn't answer correctly.

I'll put it this way - every kid in the country knows that electoral college wins the presidency. We were all taught that the popular vote is not how it's done in this country.

I honestly do not think that there will be millions of americans stomping the ground insisting that they 'won' the election in this scenario. I just don't.

Yes, people will say, 'Look at all the red on that map' but not a single one will insist that it means they should have the right to step in the white house. It's just one of those, 'hey, look at this interesting thing I've found' kinda things.

"Sounds like a dream scenario for a super rich retired tycoon."

Don't you mean "super rich retarded tycoon"...to cop a Coulter smear-line?

Your dreaming Hal... Students in general are not aware of the electoral college.

Yes it is covered in Government classes but those are not a major component in schools. It may be touched upon in a History class but it would not be dwelt on as it is not a purpose of that class. In the coming years it will only get less attention as the Common Core education standards now adopted by every state except Texas.

As a Teacher, I could astound you with what is NOT taught in schools. We want to teach the material but are not allowed because it is not in the required standards.

To anecdotally prove that students are not versed in the election process, I just quizzed my 16-year-old son. He was completely wrong in his belief that the presidential election was a direct election. This is a boy who knows his at a college level. Trust me - he now knows what the electoral college is and how it works but he likely would never have learned it in school (especially with history being discounted for math and science)

The kids have all been told, but the system makes no sense to them, so they forget. Perhaps that should tell us something.

Stand in front of a store holding a clipboard and ask every adult who passes how may electoral votes a candidate needs to win. I bet less than 30% will know.

Before the Republican party got hi-jacked by the Tea Baggers, I would have agreed with you. Not the current version, who wail with righteous indignation over the same things they gave George Bush a pass on.

I'm pretty sure the usual suspects will be making lots of noise even if Obama wins all of the electoral votes.

Especially if Obama wins all of the electoral votes.
