Fwiw, there are plenty of racist Democrats. I just talked to a lady who said almost verbatim, "I've voted Democrat all my life, but I won't vote for a black man." I just think many Democrats are better at impression management (not this lady though!). kj.

there are MILLIONS of democrats - of course there are racists somewhere in that group. But I might point out that it's the dems that put a black man up to run for president, then fully backed him and got him into the whitehouse.

Is the democratic party FULL of racists? No. At least it's not so bad that a prominent insider says so to the press... like what just happened on the repub side...

and it was the dems that pushed the civil rights amendment through... it was JFK that forced southern schools in integrate...

RECENT history shows clearly that the dems are friendlier to minorities than the repubs.... now if you want to go bad 100+ years, you'd have a case....

Yeah, of course I've heard all that, but I've become increasingly skeptical. I think they've both made inches progress toward a trip to the moon. And I really believe repubs are just more obnoxious about their racism. Democrats have a more sophisticated type. Just a belief based on my own observations though. Note too that just because this guy says it, doesn't make it any kind of fact. How does anyone know what his motives really are?

It certainly was when JFK was President and I seem to remember it was Eisenhower who first used troops to desegregate segregated southern schools.

All of this is in pursuit of little since then our political parties have swapped hats, kj's friend apparently didn't get the memo.

He's an Army man, and that means that the chances are greater than two in three that he too is a Republican. However most Republicans in the armed forces don't follow the neocon party line because it keeps putting them in harm's way.
