You know what I hate?

Okay, so "hate" is a strong word, and yes, this is a "First World Problem"...

But all-in-one printer scanners seem so cheaply made these days. What puts me off in particular, though, is opening the door to the scanner. Almost every one I've seen sounds so cheap and "plasticy" and they creak and groan like they're destined to fall apart.

Okay, rant over.

I think I made a similar comment a while back about how even high end digital cameras (high-end meaning in the $300 and up range--probably not high-end to many of you) feel so cheaply put together, and seem to be entirely made of plastic!

"Plastic, my boy...plastic.." (paraphrasing)

I hate the fact that the Printer part never holds up as well as the scanner part.

My Canon AIO does not have any of the above-lamented shortcomings.
What are these assessments based on?

You get what you are willing to pay for.

This is the consequence of ever-present pressure to lower prices.
