Edger won't start
#1
Have this old Briggs And Stratton push behind Gas Edger, that sat outside for a long time.

Took it to a shop, where they tuned it up, and said it needed points., etc.

I left it out in the rain, OOOPS, now it wont start.

Took gas out and replaced with fresh.

Took cover off magneto, and lightly sanded rusted area on the flywheel.

Took it back to shop, and I could see the tester giving one light on his tester showing it should spark, but he said it should be lighting up both sides of his tester, and it is the coil now. Magneto.

Was thinking of either taking off the flywheel, and checking the coil surface, and the points to see if they are ok.

ALSO considering buying a PowerMate Gas edger at Home Depot for $219 or 249, depending which one I choose. CHINA import, me think.

Coil/Magneto shouldnt be too hard to replace if I can find a place that sells them.

If you replace it consider one of the cordless battery models?

If you can get the old engine running, do it. The new Chinese engines are crap.

M>B>--- edger, not weed whacker. I can't think of a battery operated machine (unless it's run by a truck battery) that would have enough power to be an edger.

Of course Edgar won't start, I thought Edgar died like 25 years ago according to Joan (Rivers) anyway... pretty tough to revive a corpse after a quarter century.

oh, Edger not Edgar

I read Edgar as well and it brought back cruel memories of Edgar Stile's death on 24.
