The writing is on the wall...

If neither side is shutting down, then why are people still bitching? Seriously, there is no reason to be ungracious about this. OWC has provided these forums free of charge for eight years, and I am sure some of the comments here and on the other side make Larry grind his molars. I think we need to remember that we are at a friend's house, and behave accordingly.

I'm in agreement with you on this one. It's up to them to implement whatever rules they desire. It is also the choice of the participants to continue on or go elsewhere.

The greatest irony in all of this hoopla about the political forum going away was Black's insistence that there were a bunch of whiny tattletales running to the moderators for any and every perceived slight - and that there was some sort of right-wing conspiracy to get rid of the political side.

The ironic part of it all is that I get a message from a MRF Moderator informing me that one of my posts was edited because I had used Black's real first name in the post (a name that has been recognized and answered in other threads).

So, it turns out that the person whipping up the conspiracy theory and admonitions about tattletales (and insinuated that I whined to the moderators myself) is the one who runs to the moderators himself...

Ironic.

I'm not the one whining to moderators because someone on here wasn't "nice" to me...

I wouldn't assume that Black complained. The moderarion has changed and this could have been a well-intentioned error. Or someone else could have complained. Or maybe Black did complain but all they did was remove his name, right? No harm no foul.

$tevie-
I don't need to assume (nor presume) that Black was the complainant. The moderator private messaged me that it was Black making the complaint. No error there and it wasn't "someone else" that complained. Quite ironic considering his protestations about complainants and some sort of "right-wing conspiracy" to shut down this forum.

But let's look back on this...

I probably reported posts a few other times, but as a rule I wouldn't resort to that because it is indeed tattle taling.

But don't forget we have a few individuals here who have been working to disappear this forum, so not everybody who casts this side in a negative light is being genuine.

So they intentionally provoke and provoke until they have a reason to hammer the "report' link and complain to Larry directly that everyone's mean to them.

They have been numbered for a while. The forum ownership very likely sympathizes with the right wing foot soldiers who have been intent on making it go away, so they win.

This is really about the squeaky wheel syndrome. There will always be a small number of thin skinned posters who will consume a disproportionate amount of moderator time.

However I feel it is very simple to use the TOS. If someone is calling someone else a troll, or a misogynist, or if they are posting a person is fxxxked up because they do not agree with them
remove them from the mix, it's simple stuff.

This is absurd. All the solutions being suggested are punishing the majority because a minority of thin-skinned cry babies are making trouble by harrassing the admins. It's ludricous.

I have no misapprehensions. I dont care who they are.

Oh, wait, you are one, are you not?
That is hysterical. Now all the protestations make sense.
Are you a secret right winger (according to Howard)?....

In this context, does it really matter who they are?
If they're being a PITA to the moderators, then I see nothing wrong with throwing them under bus/voting them off the island/etc.

Exactly, it does not matter who they are.
Ditch them.....

It appears that someone other than Black has the problem.

Pete/Trouble/Mac-a-matic's behavior towards me crossed a line, using my real name as a taunt in threads that I wasn't even participatory in. When I see myself or others being treated in a harrassing manner, I absolutely report it. It's disappointing that the moderator chose to frame their communication in a way that was likely to fuel additional hostilities. I had already decided that I was no longer engaging the user behind this account, and hope to be able to continue not to. Would appreciate some "self-policing" here.
